Office Space Exercise

A brief two class warm-up exercise for a CAD III class included re-designing an architecture firm's front lobby. We were given existing floor plans and in Revit we were assigned to renovate the lobby space without altering the front facade. We could do this by drop ceilings, altering walls, lighting, furniture, wall color, etc. For this atrium area, there were three main bays, including the waiting area, reception area, and a business meeting area. To distinguish between these three areas, I created a half wall curtain wall between the reception area and waiting area, so the receptionist can see into the space but also creates a buffer from the main entrance. A drop ceiling above the receptionist defines her/his space from the adjoining two rooms. Finally, for the business meeting room I created a curving wall with windows punched into the wall, allowing visitors to the firm to see inside the space, and also firm workers to see outside their room. In between each window I added frames to showcase the firms design work. The curving wall also guides visitors to the door behind the receptionist, and creates more space inside the business room for counter space.
